Lyrics by Eric Pastoral
|
What did you expect to get from reaching for the skies? And what'd you think would happen when you looked into her eyes? Did you presume that magic would save you from the fall? Did you expect that in the end you'd somehow get it all? Chorus: Did you see your own reflection when you looked into the well, Did you hear the thunder booming, could you find the words to tell? Did you see the lightning cracking as you gathered all your nerve? When you sell your soul to hell my friend, you get what you deserve. Did the train you rode to paradise start to let you down? Did the view from up on top the world turn your head around? Did you think the boat would run aground, or were you planning to set sail? Did you get a cold night's memory or just a letter in the mail? |
Oddly Zepplinesque? Needs a cello part? Is this our homage to Bon Jovi!? Something about The Fall elicits all manner of strange comments. I love this song, for all the goofing around we did with it, but Eric was complaining about it the other night... yeah, he wrote it -- what does he know? This song represents for me some of the most beautiful interplay between the guitars -- Barry and Eric have grown to complement each other's styles with increasingly sophisticated arrangements, and it's been amazing to play music with them for all these years. But then, I'm just a drummer. Oooh! Something shiny! |
