Lyrics by Eric Pastoral
|
Laughing with the left eye, crying with the right, I couldn't help but wonder if I'd make it through the night. There's a golden bough of fire selling flowers on the street I'd tried to take her solitude, but I couldn't stand the heat. I stayed in bed for hours waiting for the night to come While the marching band below me had to march without a drum. There's a poet in my closet loaded nearly to the floor, His words are made of marble and he can't hold them anymore. Chorus: Oh, I'm senseless, Lord, I'm senseless. I'm ragged, I'm defenseless, But lord, I'm senseless. There's a pilgrim at my doorstep with a book of holy prayers, There's a preacher in the graveyard, and he wants to meet me there. I gave a dime to charity but it isn't working yet; Some give to remember and some give to forget. |
Not many rock bands quote Chaucer, but that's our Eric... love the big "churchy" sound we got on this one. Would love to do a new recording of it, though... |
