Big Dumb Animals is a rock & roll band based in Portland, OR. We've been polluting the ozone layer with our own brand of original music and offbeat cover tunes since 1997. Or maybe '96; none of us can really remember, and there doesn't appear to be any fossil evidence beyond a citation for violating the local noise ordinance at a party in Vancouver, so let's go with '97 for now.

The four original members, Dirk, Stig, Nasty & Barry, recorded our first demo in March of 1998. Based on that demo, listeners everywhere raved about our unique sound and fell in love with Barfly Baby. Later we began working on our magnum opus, 5 Cocktail Breakfast. After a series of stunning, jaw dropping performances at Portland's finer musical establishments, Big Dumb Animals went deep into hibernation. Just ask Barry's next door neighbors. Anyway, sometime around June of 2004 we were asked to play a benefit at Sandy Actors Theatre, and for that event we asked Rae Jones to sit in with us on a few tunes. The event went okay, and that should have been the end of it. Back to hibernation. But for some reason unbeknownst to animalologists everywhere, Rae continued coming to rehearsals. This has had the (un?)fortunate effect of kicking the rest of us in our deadbeat asses.

Because of this, and because you just can't keep a good band down, the Animals are gearing up for their first city wide tour in over four years. The summer of 2006 holds treats unknown!
